Did you know? The Halloween party is of Celtic origin and comes from the English expression “All Hallow’s Eve” which means the eve of the feast of all saints.

Me who thought it was ghost party …. Well yes !!! Because among the Celts (a people who, a very long time ago, lived where England and northern France are now), October 31 was the eve of the new year, the Samain, who announced the end of the harvest and sun season. On this day, legend has it that the ghosts of the dead mingle with the living. One of the beliefs associated with this legend is to leave food at the gates of villages and offer it to ghosts in order to appease their spirits.

Over the centuries, this tradition has turned into a celebration for children. These, disguised as ghosts, went from door to door asking for sweets. It is in 1840, with the immigration of the Irish in America that the tradition crossed the ocean and it is therefore the reason why on October 31 of each year, our streets are invaded by small hungry monsters !!

It is thanks to this ancient legend that I had the pleasure of creating this work of art.
