The MEADOWBANK surface gold mine is located in a large northern territory near the geographic center of Canada in the Kivalliq district of Nunavut. It is 300 kilometers from Hudson Bay and 100 kilometers north of Baker Lake, a community renowned for its Inuit art.
Through these landscapes stripped of vegetation, it is not uncommon to see large blizzards, herds of caribou and extreme cold appearing which can easily reach -50 degrees Celsius.
A large territory, a great challenge; Each of my works of art is also a great challenge. Even if for each of them the style remains the same, the creative sense is always different and above all, never real; it allows a double interpretation of the subject’s existence by bringing it as close as possible to its reality.
I made this work of art from several photographs of this vast northern territory and all those people who work there with heart!
